Note: Teague Elementary event has moved to next week, as their campus is closed Friday due to a high number of student illnesses.

Veteran’s Day is a day set aside for honoring all the veterans who served in the American Armed Forces.


This year it falls on Monday, November 11th, 2019, and Freestone County is doing its best to show our veteran’s just how important they are.


The acts of reverence will be ongoing from Friday, November 8th, 2019 through Monday, November the 11th, 2019.


Saturday, November 9th, 2019
The Freestone County Historical Museum will be hosting a Veteran’s Day Celebration on Saturday with refreshments and music, and the Boy Scouts Pack #668 will be doing a color guard flag presentation.


This event is additionally hosted by the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, Freestone Medical Clinic, and Fairfield Nursing and Rehab.


Accessories Etc. and Armadillo Emporium will be offering 10% off to their Veteran shoppers.


Monday, November 11th, 2019


Fairfield Elementary School will be holding a Veteran’s Day Program at 7:50 a.m. in the Elementary Gym. They will be honoring all those who served.


Dew ISD will be having an assembly at 10:00 a.m. in their gym for all veterans.


Wortham ISD’s program will be in their gym at 10:00 a.m. for all veterans.

Veteran’s Remembrance Park in Teague will host a Veteran Day program beginning at 4:00 p.m. Lamar Evans will be guest speaker.

Music will be provided by Linda Steen (singing “God Bless America”), the Teague High School Band (performing the National Anthem and “Amazing Grace”), and Robert Robertson playing the bagpipes.

The Boy Scouts will conduct the flag ceremony.

In case of bad weather, this event will move to First Baptist Church, 209 N. 6th Avenue, Teague, Texas.

Teague Elementary School starts the weekend on Friday with their Veterans Day Musical Salute presented by the 4th grade students beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Gym.


Veterans and their families can meet in the elementary library at 1:30 p.m. for a small reception followed by the presentation at 2:00 p.m. in the TES Gym.


Everyday Offerings


Texas Burger/Subway and Pizza Hut of Fairfield offer a 20% discount every day for veterans, and Something Different offers a 15% discount every day for veterans.


The Freestone County Historical Museum has free entry for veterans and active military on all holidays.
