Fairfield ISD held a special program on Monday, November 11, 2024 to honor their veterans and active-duty service members.

“We are grateful for those who have served as patriots for our country,” said Jimilyah Nash as the school welcomed everyone. “Your service has helped keep our country and its citizens safe and free.”

This year’s keynote speaker, a 1983 graduate of Fairfield High School, spoke to the students and fellow veterans of the importance of military service. Carl J. (Robbie) Robertson, IV enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm in 1990-91.

Robertson now serves as a Methodist Pastor for churches in Dew and Oakwood; and is active in veteran outreach programs. He currently serves as the Commander of the Wilbur H. Bailey Memorial Post #5872 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of America.

During the ceremony, Posting of the Colors was conducted by Nadia Hoskins, carrying the American flag, and Addison Posey, bringing in the Texas flag.

Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jaci Abram, Roll Call was announced by Mason Edwards, and the Closing was conducted by Evelyn Fultz. Guest speaker was introduced by Cole Coufal.

The Grand Band from Eagle Land performed both the National Anthem and special music for the military branches. Band members closed the program with the playing of Taps.

Thank you, veterans, for your service.
