Velma “Pearl” Mitchell Hathcox was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, On November 7, 2020 at the age of 86.
Pearl was born to parents Elvin and Alice Mitchell and was the oldest daughter of 12 kids. She loved her family dearly and always looked forward to family reunions. Pearl was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She always shared her love for Jesus with others.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Alice (Allbritton) Mitchell; grandson, Timothy Nunley; brothers David Mitchell and Paul Mitchell; sister Margaret Carter; brothers-in-law Jim Rodgers, Jim Andrews and Bill Pinkerton; sisters-in-law Helen Ruth Mitchell, Ruth Mitchell and Helen Mitchell.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years Harvey Hathcox; daughters Deborah Nunley, Karen Bancroft and husband Mitchell; grandchildren Harvey Nunley and wife Casey, Opey Nunley and wife Mandi, Chance Bancroft, Collin Bancroft and Nadie Bancroft; 11 great-grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren; brothers and sister Billy J. Mitchell, Joyce Rodgers, Donald Mitchell and wife June, Fay Collins and husband Bob, Marilyn Mitchell, Mary Andrews, Ruby Starcher and husband Tom, Richard Mitchell and wife Diane, Sarah Covert and husband Chuck.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 6-8pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 1:00pm Friday, November 13, 2020 at Calvary Baptist Church with Bro Terry Skinner officiating. Burial will follow at Birdston Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews John Elze, Aaron Tunnell, Jim Mullins, Eric Minnear, Brian Mitchell and Ross Smith.
