It will be a busy week at Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield when the local church kicks off its annual Vacation Bible School program.
Kids from the ages of 2-18 are invited to attend each evening’s program from 7:00-9:30 p.m. with a wide variety of activities planned by the local congregation. Those attending will have a Bible study class, music and singing, crafts session, recreation time, a mission class and refreshments each night. Refreshments will be Monday-cookies, Tuesday-cheesy fries, Wednesday-hotdogs, Thursday-ice cream, and Friday-pizza.
Another fun part of the week will be a friendly competition each night between the girls and boys to determine which group gives the most towards a mission offering. Winners are announced each night and then a final winner at the end of the school.
A special closing ceremony will be held Sunday night, June 9th at 7:00 p.m. which will showcase the many songs the kids have learned as well as some skits. Following the ceremony, there will be a reception in the Christian Life Center where parents and visitors will be able to see the many crafts the kids made during VBS. Refreshments and drinks will also be provided.
“This is one of the most exciting and rewarding programs for our church each year,” Darla Moore, Calvary’s VPS director stated. “We are blessed to be able to offer this specialized form of religious education which focuses on children. It’s not only a fun time for the kids, but a time where we can teach them about the eternal forgiveness and saving grace through Jesus Christ.”
Nursery will be provided for the teachers working during the program. Every child and youth is invited to attend regardless of their church affiliation. The closing ceremony will be an excellent time for all family members to attend and see what their kids have learned and made throughout the week-long event.
