The Cities of Wortham and Streetman met last week in a workshop to discuss the contract between the cities for Wortham PD’s coverage of security for Streetman, which ends on September 30th.
As this was only a workshop, no action could be taken on the part of either city.
Following this workshop, each city will convene individually to have further discussions on the feasibility of continuing the contract before they decide whether to renew the contract to begin October 1, 2024. They could also potentially extend the contract for a certain period as well.
Wortham City Council meets every second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
Streetman Commissioners hold their meetings on the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
