As Fairfield High School students prepare to begin classes next week, architects are hard at work planning the layout of the new school.
According to FISD Superintendent, Joe Craig, the School Board has had a couple of meetings with architects where they visited with different groups of teachers to obtain their input on design aspects needed and wanted in the spaces in which they will be using.
During the first meeting, architects met with Ag teachers, Band Directors, Cosmetology, and Life Skills.

The second meeting was with science, math, culinary arts, family and consumer science, athletics, theatre, child nutrition, and technology instructors.
“We are currently working on selecting a construction manager, which should be completed by the end of August, as well as selecting a surveyor,” explains Mr. Craig.
The next design meeting has yet to be scheduled, but it will occur once suggestions are integrated into the initial designs.
“Most of the things that will take place this school year will be these non-visible things to the public, although we will communicate them through our social media accounts and on our website. The “dirt moving” will likely start late in the Spring or early summer,” concludes Mr. Craig.
The ‘Times’ will provide updates as they become available.
