Houston, Texas reported that they had found the B.1.1.7 variant of COVID-19, the British variant.

“The fact that this person had no travel history suggests this variant is already circulating in Texas,” said Dr. John Hellerstedt, DSHS commissioner. “Genetic variations are the norm among viruses, and it’s not surprising that it showed up here given how rapidly it spreads.”

This strain is considered to be more contagious than the average strains, but not more severe when a person is infected.
If you, or someone you know, is displaying signs, isolate and be tested.
