The City of Mexia extended their curfew till Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at 5:01 a.m. as a measure to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
From 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. each day Mexia residents are expected to be at their residence, or similar location with a few exceptions:
–Traveling through the city without stopping
–First Responders on official duty
–City, County, State and Federal employees on official duty
–Media, workers going to and from work, and people deemed by the Chief of Police as allowed for special circumstances

Boyd Unit in Freestone County has zero positives.
Compared to last week, numbers for Beto Unit (currently in lockdown) have drastically been reduced.
During a phone conversation with the “Times”, a member of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Communications Department explained that a lock down does not mean prisoners cannot be transferred, especially for medical reasons.
While they are currently only doing medical transfers, many prisoners have been transferred closer to the State Prison Hospital in Galveston for undisclosed reasons.
