Enjoy a Hotdog Lunch for a Good Cause on Friday, April 7
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and on Friday, April 7th, Freestone County CPS Board will be hosting a hotdog benefit to support area children.
“Go Blue Day” will held in front of the Courthouse beginning at 11:00 a.m. Balloons will be released followed by a hotdog lunch. Lunch is given for a $5 donation.
Many community events and activities are scheduled throughout the month to emphasize the critical importance of preventing child abuse and neglect and keeping children safe.

Webinar Viewing this Friday at the County Extension Office
A “Vegetable Gardening Lunch Hour Webinar” will be conducted by Joe Masabni, Extension Small-Acreage Vegetable Specialist of Overton Research and Extension Center.
These webinars will be streamed at the Freestone County Extension Office, 440 E Main – Suite 10 in Fairfield, Texas from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.

Vietnam Veterans to Meet Tuesday, April 11
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 991 will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 11th 2017 at their meeting hall at 927 Gardner Drive in Palestine Texas.
Meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome.
Chapter #991 services communities in a six county area with veteran’s assistance to families and organizations in need of these services. Our Honor and Color Guard is ready and willing to assist as needed.
The Vietnam Veterans of America are a community active organization that honors all veterans from all branches of service as our motto indicates
“Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another”.
Visit with us to see what we do in your community. Snacks and coffee/tea will be served at 6:30 p.m. and then proceed with the business meeting at 7:00 p.m.

Teague Awards Banquet is Next Thursday, April 13
The Teague Chamber of Commerce will hold their Annual Awards Banquet on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Teague Community Center beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Everyone is invited to attend.
New this year will be a special presentation from the Teague Police Department to honor an Officer and Rookie of the Year.
Students of the Year from each school campus will be recognized.
Awards will be presented to Citizen of the Year, Organization of the Year and Business of the Year. Also honored will be Humanitarian and the Bill Boyd Community Service Cup.
Admission will be $20, which will include a catered dinner by Sam’s Restaurant.
Advance tickets are encouraged, as it will be helpful to the caterer and the Chamber to determine the attendance.
Tickets will be available at Prosperity Bank, The Flower House, and The Teague Chronicle office. Attendees may also pick up their tickets at the door, the evening of the banquet.
The Teague Community Center is located at 511 Main Street.

Aggie Muster Set for April 21 in Freestone County
The Freestone County A & M Club invites you and your family to join us for Aggie Muster, Friday, April 21, 2017, at 5:30pm. Muster includes dinner and a Muster program honoring Aggies past and present. The cost of the evening will be $15, which includes dinner and a beverage. Kids are $6 and if under 5, are free.
Our speaker for the evening, True Brown, graduated from Texas A&M in 2004 with a degree in Agricultural Journalism, and he currently serves as the Director of Communications for the 12th Man Foundation. His role with the Foundation includes editing and writing 12th Man Magazine, the premier alumni athletics magazine in the nation
Aggie Muster is celebrated in more than 300 locations worldwide and is a wonderful event to connect with fellow Aggies and those that enjoy the spirit of A & M.

Wortham Citywide Garage Sale to be Held April 22
City of Wortham is having its annual City-Wide Garage Sale on Saturday, April 22, 2017.
Permits are not required to participate; and participants can choose their own hours.
There will be no maps of sale locations this year.
Spring Style Takes the Stage April 25 to Benefit Cancer Survivors
The Freestone Cancer Support Group’s Spring Style Show will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Calvary Baptist Church’s Family Life Center.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for shopping; and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.
Spring styles will be modeled by Juls by Jul, Texas Outfitters, Kennedy’s Korner, Native Soul, LaDonna’s, The Cowboy’s Wife, Peacocks and Ponys, The Shops at Peridot, and Maggie Grace Boutique.
Also featured will be prom dresses, daddy/daughter dance dresses, and formal wear by Miss and Miss Teen Freestone County.
Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased at the door, or in advance at Armadillo Emporium or Kennedy’s Korner, both in Fairfield.
Come enjoy a great meal, beautiful Spring styles, shopping, a silent auction, and door prizes to help support a great cause!
Spring Fling Hosted by Tri-County Golf Club at the Vineyards
Tri-County Golf Club at the Vineyards is having its first Spring Fling on Saturday and Sunday, April 29-30, 2017.
There will be a 2-Person Shamble, one low score.
Entry fee is $125 per person and includes the following: practice round on Friday (cart not included); tournament Saturday and Sunday (cart included); business meeting Saturday night; entertainment; and tees. (70 and older – black tees, women – red tees, all others – blue tees)
Dinner and drinks will be available for purchase.
The tournament will be flighted and prize money is based on the number of entries.
