Fourth of July celebrations turned into a horrific nightmare for 12-year-old Brayleigh Andrews, daughter of Kelsy Andrews, of the Richland Chambers area.
According to Brayleigh’s aunt, Linsy Durnavich, “a defective projectile-type firework exploded at ground level and went in all directions. She was struck in the back first, and when she turned around, some of the projectiles hit her in the face causing some of it to go into her mouth and down her throat as she was screaming. She has burns in her mouth, esophagus, and lungs. Her lungs are so burned that the doctors are unable to see the extent of damage done to the rest of her body until her lungs are better.”
Linsy explained that Brayleigh, as of Saturday, July 6, was in a medically induced coma with breathing ventilator. This will most likely be a very long and involved hospital stay and recovery, during which time Kelsy will not be able to work.
For those who would like to help the family financially, the family has set up a GoFundMe account through Facebook called Support Brayleigh’s Recovery Journey. You may also send funds directly to Kelsy via CashApp at $Kels9XO or, if you would like to give directly to a family member, contact Brayleigh’s grandfather, Randy Ellison, at (903) 388-2213.
Any amount is greatly appreciated. Prayers are also welcome and appreciated.
