The Fairfield Police Department wants to inform citizens to lock their car doors at night.

Vehicle burglaries have been occurring in the City of Fairfield for a while now in random areas.

Fairfield Police Chief David Utsey explained, “It appears that subjects are going around neighborhoods and going car to car checking for unlocked doors.”

When they do find an unlocked door, the subjects appear to enter the vehicle and go through the glove box along with other compartment areas.

Several gun and other items have been taken.

“Few vehicles are actually broken into by breaking the windows and entering that way,” further explains Chief Utsey.

He also wants citizens to remember to report suspicious people at any time by calling the Fairfield police department at 903-389-3901.
