Thomas Wayne Lovell, 81, was born in Atlanta, Georgia on April 18, 1943.  He attended Sam Houston State University, and during his time there, married his wife of sixty years, Kathryn Ann Dennard Lovell.  Following graduation, he was commissioned into the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant.  After learning to fly helicopters in flight school, Wayne was deployed to Vietnam.  During his service, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Army Aviator Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, a Purple Heart, an Air Medal with 7 Oak Leaf Clusters, and an Overseas Service Bar.  After being honorably discharged from the Army with the rank of Captain in 1968, Wayne joined the US Army Reserves, serving in the 75th MAC, Aviation Division.

Wayne worked for Houston Lighting and Power for over twenty years, before ‘retiring’ to raise Angus cattle, which he did for the rest of his life.  He is remembered for his love of animals, as well as for his hobbies which included photography, hiking, hunting, fishing, target shooting, woodworking, cooking, and reading.

He is predeceased by his parents, Thomas Wayne Lovell, Sr. and Ellison Fosselman Lovell.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Ann Dennard Lovell; daughter and son-in-law, Tamara Gayle Lovell and Michael Wayne Piper; son, William Wayne Lovell; and grandchildren, Madeleine Eleanor Piper, Kathryn Anne Piper, Elizabeth Jane Piper, and Liam Thomas Piper.
