Dear Editor,

I write today as a concerned citizen of Freestone County to bring attention to troubling conduct involving two public officials: County Commissioner Clyde Ridge and Streetman City Commissioner Subrenna Turner.

Our elected officials are entrusted with serving the people with integrity, transparency, and accountability. Unfortunately, recent actions by both Commissioner Ridge and Commissioner Turner raise serious questions about whether that trust has been violated.

On April 14, 2025, Commissioner Clyde Ridge was involved in a deeply concerning incident in which he threatened the well-being of the Mayor of the City of Streetman during a confrontation that was both unprofessional and alarming.

This type of behavior from a county commissioner is unacceptable and proses a threat to the integrity of our local government. Elected officials should be held to the highest standards, and threatening a fellow public servant violates both ethical norma and the public trust.

Equally troubling are the ongoing actions of Streetman City Commissioner Subrenna Turner, who has repeatedly demonstrated that she is not acting in the best interest of the city, but rather pursuing her own personal agenda. Residents have witnessed her cursing at citizens during public meetings, showing blatant disrespect for those she is meant to serve.

Additionally, her inconsistent attendance at meetings and bullying behavior toward residents create an atmosphere of hostility and dysfunction within the city of Streetman’s leadership.

This pattern of misconduct from both officials cannot be allowed to continue unchecked. Public service is a responsibility – not a platform for threats, personal gain, or intimidation.

We, the people of Freestone county, deserve better. We deserve leaders who prioritize the public good over personal agendas, who act ethically, and who respect the responsibilities of their office.

I urge fellow citizens to demand answers, attend public meetings, and speak out against this misconduct. If wrongdoing has occurred, it must be addressed swiftly and appropriately.

Accountability is not optional – it is the foundation of public service.
