After not finishing UIL One Act Play last year due to Covid-19 restrictions, FHS drama club will continue to perform this year with new sponsors.
“It is challenging, as I am completely new to it, but at the same time exciting,” English I teacher and director Hannah Spradlin said. “It has been a joy to take the written script, create a vision, and bring it to life using the talents of the actors and crew involved.”
The fall production will perform a rendition of the classic The Christmas Carol. The students will have practiced for five weeks by the time they perform.
“I’m excited to be working with some amazingly talented students,” art teacher and director Teri Frauenberger said. “I’m also excited to work as an assistant with a compassionate person like Mrs. Spradlin.”
The cast includes Jeremy Kilkenny as Scrooge, Reggie Robinson as Bob Cratchit, Meredith Awalt as Marley’s Ghost, Kayden Salinas as Christmas Past, Kelton Carlson as Young Scrooge, Alex Gallardo as Young Scrooge Girlfriend, Sheyla Hidalgo as Christmas Present, Vianney Orona as Mrs. Cratchit, Payton Botelho as Tiny Tim, Britney Delgado as Christmas Future, Leslie Vaughn as Lizzie, and Emma Jo Smith as Mary.
“Developing my character’s accent is definitely a task, considering it’s not an accent I use frequently, and memorizing the lines is fairly difficult considering the stage time,” junior Jeremy Kilkenny said. “I do feel like I am in tune with the character’s overall personality, which makes it easier to portray.”
The performances will be on November 14 at 7:00 p.m. and November 15 at 2:00 p.m. The Fall Production crew encourages all to come and support them. The entrances fees are $5 for students, $7 for adults, and kids under five are free.
