Starting August 15, 2017, a new short story writing contest for students, grades 6-12, begins accepting entries.
The contest is sponsored by Texas Authors Institute of History, the only museum in the country that is dedicated to preserving the works of Texas authors, both past and present.
Part of the mission of the museum is to develop and encourage future authors of Texas.

The short story contest is open to any student, grades 6-12, whether in public, private or home schools. Each grade will have winners by region based on the first two numbers of their zip code: 75, 76, 77, etc.
Then there will be statewide winners. A number of prizes will be awarded.
“We celebrate the creative minds of the younger generation,” said B. Alan Bourgeois, founder, and director of Texas Authors Institute. “We know they are the future authors who will push the boundaries of great works and we are thrilled to collaborate with the schools and to encourage the students to grow into great writers that the world can recognize and honor.”
