Terry Alton Parker or TA was an indomitable man, a husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend and entrepreneur. He doggedly persevered through life’s ups and downs. He had many successes and challenges, but as his brother Keith said, “Terry was a miracle.”
He was fiercely protective of his children, Dustyn, and identical twins, Brandi and Ashley and loved them to the moon and back. He loved his wife Glenda with all his heart. Terry and Glenda married in Missouri in 1979, and were married for nearly 44 years. Terry would have thrown himself in front of a herd of stampeding longhorns to shield his family from harm!
Terry and Glenda were so happy to welcome sons-in-law Greg and Todd and daughter-in-law Sharesa and children, Cassi and Destiny, into the family. They were especially thrilled when grandchildren Ashlynn, Finely, Oliver, Jacob and Wyatt were born. His many nieces and nephews affectionally called him Uncle Terry. Terry’s favorite title was Grandfather.
Terry’s many friends who had the good fortune to know him, enjoyed his sense of humor, his generosity and his storytelling. His smile and easy manner were infectious.
Terry Parker was born on May 6, 1955, in Fairfield, Texas and passed on May 14, 2023, at his home in Springfield, Missouri. He graduated from Fairfield High School. Terry was proud to be a genuine Texan. His great grandfather six times removed, Robert Brough Longbotham, founded the town now named Wortham and also fought in the Texas Revolution in 1836. Terry’s parents, Alton Parker Jr. and Lou Rhea Parker, preceded him in death. Brothers Mike and Keith survive him as well as Aunt Cindy Johnson. His life-long friend Sonny Wills of Fairfield also survives him.
Terry and his brothers grew up playing, fishing, riding and working on cars. The family business, Parker Chevrolet in Fairfield, was their pride and joy. Terry was also a boy scout and looked great in his uniform. He attended the Boy Scout Jamboree in Idaho. Along with scouting he learned his values, generosity, kindness, and religious faith from his mother.
Terry was a contractor and ran his own business. He built the family’s home by hand. Terry was an awesome salesman and could sell dirt to a church lady! He loved making deals and planning his next project. He was a real wheeler dealer and always finished the job.
Terry always stopped everything to help his kids. His favorite sports were Christmas and BBQ-ing in the snow. If he was on the road, he did anything to get home for Christmas. He would take any load, drive for free, as long as he got home. Terry loved getting one of his grandchildren in his truck riding around and talking. “Fun, Fun, Fun! Grandpa drove the Silverado around!”
We love you Terry and will always miss you. Terry is with his angels now.
