Valedictorian

“I feel accomplished,” says Teague High School Valedictorian 2019 Brady Dale Welch.
The son of April and Bubba Welch, Brady has two siblings: Brittnee Ransberger and Bryleigh Welch.
Brady boasts a Grade Point Average of 4.857; and says to his underclassmen, “Find your passion and run with it. Don’t miss out on the opportunities you have.”
His school activities include being a member of FFA, Student Council, Lions for the Lord, National Honor Society, HHS, Campus Leadership Advisory Board, and the THS Varsity Baseball and Football Teams.
School honors he has received in high school are: ‘A’ Honor Roll Student (4 years), Perfect Attendance (4 years), Texas 99.1 Student of the Week, Texas FFA Lonestar Degree, Texas Farm Credit Ag Student of the Month, THS Baseball Co-MVP, and THS Football “Lion Heart.”
Outside of school, Brady serves in the Teague FBC Youth Ministry, Teague Rodeo Association, and as a Teague Little League Baseball Coach.
Brady’s hobbies are hunting, fishing, showing steers, livestock judging, and hanging out with friends and family.
He plans to attend Texas A&M University to obtain a degree in Animal Science to pursue a career in Embryo Transfer.
When asked who has inspired him most, he says, “Mrs. Smith, because she not only helped me find a love for the FFA, but also showed how a true Christian should act.”
“I appreciate all of the memories made and having the staff always there to help no matter the situation,” he says about his time at THS. “Gig’em and God Bless!”
Congratulations Brady, on earning the title of top Grad at Teague High School!
Brady and his classmates will walk the field on Friday, May 31, 2019 beginning at 8:00 p.m.

Salutatorian

Earning the title of Salutatorian for the Teague High School Class of 2019 with a Grade Point Average of 4.849 is Layne Grayson Myers (Graysie), daughter of Andee and Brett Myers and the late Laura Lee Myers.
“I am excited and feel as if I have achieved my goal,” she says about earning this honor.
Graysie has two siblings, Lane Fuentes and Gabby Myers.
Her hobbies are raising Market and Breeding Sheep, livestock judging, advocating for agriculture, public speaking, photography, traveling, journaling, and working with children.
During high school, Graysie’s school activities, office positions, awards, and involvement include: Class Secretary (2015-2016), Varsity Cheerleader (2015-2016), Sophomore Homecoming Court Nominee (2016), Teague FFA 1st Vice President (2016-2017), Class Secretary (2016-2017), State Livestock Judging Contest (2016-2017), Varsity Cheerleader (2016-2017), Texas FFA State Lonestar Degree (2017), Teague FFA Secretary (2017-2018), Sandyland District President (2017-2018), Yearbook Business Editor (2017-2018), NHS Member (2017-2018), Campus Leadership Advisory Board Member (2017-2018), Senior Homecoming Court Nominee (2018), Teague FFA 1st Vice President (2018-2019), Area VIII Vice President (2018-2019), NHS President (2018-2019), Yearbook Head Editor (2018-2019), Chair of Campus Leadership Advisory Board (2018-2019), Class President (2018-2019), Lions for the Lord Leader (2018-2019), Miss THS Nominee (2019), Journalism Staff Member (2018-2019), Student Council Member (2015-2019), HHS Member (2017-2019), UIL, Top 10% – Ranked Second out of 97, A-Honor Roll, Student Presenter at The Texas Association of School Boards Convention (2019), State Qualifying Agriculture Issues Team (2018), YALE Agriculture Speech Contest (2nd Place) – Texas Young Farmer Sate Convention (2019), Leadership Development Event Team Member (Public Speaking) – Radio, Ag Issues, Creed Speaking (2015-2018), and THS Student of the year (2018-2019).
Other activities Graysie participates in are her church youth group and Vacation Bible School at Teague FBC, volunteers with the Lord’s Storehouse food pantry and Teague Nursing Home, National Night Out, Parkfest, Christmas in the Park, Teague 4th of July Rodeo, Teague Chamber Banquet, student mentor at Teague Elementary and Junior High Schools, Teague Ex’s Banquet, Adopt-A-Highway Clean-Up, Carter Blood Drives, sports concession stand, fish camp, Lions Light Up the Halls, Back to School Rally, Daddy Daughter Dance, Winter Formal, The Orange & White Newspaper Bake Sale, TISD Recycling, and so much more!.
Her advice to underclassmen is, “Do not procrastinate! Stay involved and make the most of each day!”
Graysie explains that what she appreciates most about her high school is, “The family-like bond that is present in each classroom, activity, grade, etc.”
Her teacher, Mrs. Smith, is who inspired her the most during her high school years.
“She saw potential in me even when I did not,” she says. “And because of this, she spent hundreds of hours working to better me in and out of school.”
Graysie plans to attend Texas A&M to pursue a degree in Agricultural Communications & Journalism, with a minor in Agricultural Education because, “I possess a passion to advocate for the Ag industry, and feel as if this career, combined with my talents, would effectively allow me to accomplish this task.”
