Zelda, the City of Teague’s Police Department’s canine was a high topic of discussion during the Tuesday, January 19, 2021 Board of Aldermen’s meeting.
The board voted to approve an interlocal agreement for the City of Oakwood to take over responsibilities for Zelda.
Teague does not have an officer available to properly put Zelda to use working, but Oakwood does.
The agreement requires that Oakwood take care of Zelda’s health and other requirements she needs or may need in the future.
Yet, it does allow Teague to ‘borrow’ her in the future if they’ve a reason to and she is available.
Zelda was scheduled to be transferred the day after the meeting.
Another topic was the need for a new structure at the City Yard that allows for office space, restrooms, and necessary storage for public works equipment.
Currently the yard has no restrooms, not even a sink to wash their hands, and has run out of storage.
The Board voted for the City Administrator, Theresa Bell and the Public Works Director, Jacob Cowling to seek out bids for the work to be done.
