Quick action was taken last week, when statements were made regarding violence by a Teague Junior High student.
According to Teague Police Department, at about 3:10 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018, they were made aware of statements, regarding violence, which were made at Teague Junior High School by a student.
The matter was quickly dealt with by both school officials and the Teague Police Department.
A juvenile was taken into custody and has been charged with Terroristic Threats, a Class B Misdemeanor.
An investigation is still ongoing, and the case will be forwarded to the Freestone County District Attorney’s Office and Freestone County Juvenile Probation Office for prosecution.
“The Teague Police Department takes seriously any threats of violence involving the safety of our children,” states Teague Police Chief Dewayne Philpott. “Our children’s safety is our primary concern and we will work diligently to hold people responsible for endangering our children’s safety.”
Chief Philpott encourages reporting any concerns about children’s safety of children to the Teague Police Department or the Teague Independent School District.
