Teague Police Department message on the death of Tyre Nichols.
As many are aware, Memphis (Shelby County) Tennessee released videos related to the death of Tyre Nichols this evening. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the entire Memphis community during this difficult time.
As to the videos, we are infuriated and disheartened with the vile actions of the former police officers depicted in the video, resulting in the tragic loss of Tyre Nichols’ life. Although we do not have all the facts and evidence available to us, it is apparent these former officers defiled their oaths and our code of ethics when they senselessly beat the life out of Tyre Nichols. Their actions cannot be condoned or supported by the many men and women honorably serving in this profession. We adamantly condemn the unconscionable actions of the five former Memphis officers involved in the tragic death of Tyre Nichols. The actions of these officers do not reflect the values of this department, nor many other departments throughout this nation that will share in this sediment. All life is of incalculable value/worth and reverent and will not be taken lightly by the men and women of Teague Police Department.
The staff at Memphis Police Department, the Tennessee State Investigators, and the Shelby County Prosecutors have worked diligently and swiftly to bring justice for and hold these corrupt individuals accountable for the loss of Tyre Nichols’ life. We encourage everyone to allow the Tennessee justice system to deal with these crimes against humanity, in the manner prescribed by their laws. Justice will be served and these dishonorable men will suffer the wrath appropriate for their crimes.
