The Teague Christmas in the Park committee is hosting a big garage sale right off Main Street, in the Pharmacy Plus parking lot. The event will continue Saturday, September 2nd, at 7:30 a.m., and will continue until 1:00 p.m.
The sale includes a wide variety of items, including men’s and women’s clothing, toys, appliances, and furniture, including many new items added since last weekend’s sale.
Donations are still being accepted and may be dropped off at any time at the Pharmacy Plus.
All funds raised from this event will directly advance the goal of providing electricity to the entire park, an ambitious step up from last year’s display which had about half of the park lit up.
The electricity will serve to light up displays and Christmas lights along the rails and trees which are adjacent to 8th Street and all the way down the entrance into and throughout the park.
In early August, Bill Bowers represented the committee at a city council meeting, winning their unanimous support for this year’s goals.
In addition to expanding the electrical reach of the displays, the committee, which has grown from two members in 2016 to 10 members this year, anticipates decorating each tree in the park with individual business and donor sponsorships.
To that end, the committee is both actively seeking businesses and individuals who would like to sponsor a display or lighted tree, as well as actively seeking donations of new or gently-used Christmas lights and displays.
All interested persons please feel free to contact Charles Gregory at 254-739-5010, and lights and display donations may be dropped off in Teague at the Pharmacy Plus, right off Main Street.
