Early Voting Begins April 24
The Teague Chamber of Commerce is hosting a ‘Meet the Candidates’ event on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Voters for the City of Teague are invited to the event, which will be held at the Teague Community Center.
All candidates for the Teague City Election have been invited, and questions will be provided by the Teague Chamber.
Early Voting
Early Voting for City Council and School Board elections will begin April 24, 2023.
There will be four contested races in Freestone County, including the City of Teague, City of Wortham, Fairfield ISD, and Wortham ISD.
Poll locations will be as follows:
–Wortham Community Center, 105 W. Main Street
–Teague City Hall, 105 S. 4th Ave
–Fairfield ISD Career & Technology Center, 631 Post Oak
Early Voting will be held 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 24th – Friday, April 28th; and on Monday, May 1st and Tuesday, May 2nd.
City Council
The following candidates will appear on the City Election ballots:
City of Teague: Filing their candidacy for City of Teague election include Jerry Ballew and Sara Trevino for Alderman Place II; Jamie West and Bridgett Gauntt for Alderman Place IV; and Timothy Campbell and Asa Scott Adami for Alderman Place V.
City of Wortham: Filing for City of Wortham Mayor is incumbent Pellie Goolsby; filing for 2 at-large council positions will be incumbents Cliff NeSmith and Scott Batts, along with candidates Patrick Evans and Cal Johnson (write-in).
School Board of Trustees
The following candidates will appear on the School Board Election ballots:
Fairfield ISD: Vying for 2 at-large trustee positions with Fairfield ISD will be incumbents Kevin Benedict and John Fryer, along with candidates Toni Abram and Cleo McElroy.
Wortham ISD: Incumbent Michael Dunn has filed for Place 5 – Trustee; candidates Jennifer R. Evans and Brett Duke filed for Place 6; and incumbent Jeff Jones has filed for Place 7 with Wortham ISD.
Election Day
Election Day is Saturday, May 6, 2023 with polls open from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Candidate Coverage
Questions have been mailed / emailed to candidates for Fairfield School Board election and for Wortham School Board and City Council elections.
The Times will also be attending next week’s Candidate Forum hosted by Teague Chamber of Commerce for the Teague Alderman election.
If all goes to plan, the April 26th edition will include information about each candidate running for election this year.
