Talmage B. Pickens, 91, of Fairfield, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 in Teague.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Fairfield Cemetery with Bro. Walter Pickens and Mr. Phil Nedbalke officiating. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Capps Memorial Chapel.
Pallbearers are Joe Bill Reid, Larry Pickens, Trenton Pickens, James William Grant, Chris Pickens and Brent Beene. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Hughes and Randy Turner.
Mr. Pickens was born June 7, 1929 in Freestone County near Oakwood to parents Talmage Dewitt and Lema Rebecca Donaldson Pickens.
He married Mary Frances Freeman on June 16, 1948 in Freestone County.
He was a retired pipeline inspector for Koch. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Oakwood where he had served as a Deacon. He was the recipient of The Outstanding Farmer award from Farm Bureau.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Frances on May 20, 2020; a son, Stanley Wayne Pickens; three brothers, D.H. Pickens, a twin brother Spurgeon Pickens and Vanis (Red) Pickens; one sister, Virgie Hall.
Left to cherish his memory are three sons Walter Talmage Pickens and wife Mabel of Teague; Larry Joe Pickens and wife Rosemary of Oakwood; Jerry David Pickens of Fairfield; a sister, Dorothy Evans of Teague; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
