Christmas lights are the best, right? Add that with the fact that we are supposed to be staying in small groups and keeping up our social distancing.
Okay, but how do you combine the two? Drive through Christmas light shows! YAY!
So, if you are up for a little bit of a drive, after you check out all the amazing lights in Freestone County, with some hot cocoa and family or friends, this is the list for you.
Santa’s Wonderland is the well known and loved trail of lights in College Station, Texas.
Instead of driving through, here you go on a hayride, or take a horse drawn carriage.
They have many other activities, including ice skating, available for extra fees.

Another well known trail of lights is in Athens, Texas, at the Christmas Park of Lights.
This one is all about the drive through, but no trailers because there are some very steep inclines!
Lots of Disney themed decorations in here, and while you are visiting, keep an eye out for Waldo! I hear that’s where he is.

Grand Prairie will be having their Prairie Lights completely drive through this year.
That includes the snack bar located half way through the drive, with popcorn, cotton candy, drinks and much more.

A completely free treat that celebrates the birth of Christ is found at Daystar in Bedford, Texas.
The drive is one of the shorter ones, but it ends in a walk around light display including a giant JOY for a photo op along with a giant wreath.
Make sure you check out their life-sized Nativity Scene, complete with angels and sheep.

Santa Land in Tyler is known as the original drive-thru and offers plenty of lights for everyone to enjoy.
Plus, they have a rather nice gift shop, mask required in 2020, to get some decorations, trinkets, or even gifts.

Since you are already in the Tyler area visit Up in Lights, inside Tyler, but tucked away inside trees too.

Head on out to Lights of West, located in West comma Texas, for one of the newest drive through Christmas light shows in Texas.
They have a TWENTY FOOT Bronner’s Santa Claus! HUGE! ENORMOUS! Santa Claus.
More importantly though, they have a huge section dedicated to the true meaning of Christmas, including Noah’s Arc, Nativity Scene, the Tomb and an Ascension Tree to name a few.

Spring, Tx has a new display of lights this year, located in the parking lot of Hurricane Harbor Splashtown, The Light Park.
This park has their Light Park Troupe, a group of four delightful characters made of lights, which ask visitors to tune in their radio to a special station with light matching music.

Rudolph’s Lightshow, Houston’s original light show, is located right outside of Houston in Hockley, Tx.
This proud Texan lightshow boast Cowboy Snowmen who are made of lights instead of snow, and even Christmas Oil Derricks.

This year the 56th Austin Trail of Lights will be a return to Zilker Park as a drive through event.
Magic is to be found at every turn of the road this year, although the rides, live music, and other events some have grown to love will not be available.

Dallas Zoo Lights will continue this year as a drive through event, yes you get to drive through the Dallas Zoo.
Most animals will be asleep, but there will be plenty of decorations, lights and even an ice palace!
Finish up the drive at the Reliant Holiday Village, with holiday snacks, festive drinks, holiday glow goodies, and photo ops.
