Monday, January 13, 2025, approximately 08:20 hours Teague Police Department became aware of threats against officers. Specifically, threats were relayed to us that an individual was “going to blow up the police when they come back…” Officers drove by the residence of the suspected person and observed what was believed to be an improvised explosive device (IED), which showed up immediately after the threat was made.
McLennan County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit was contacted and responded for assistance with the suspected IED. BATF, Freestone County Attorney’s Office, Freestone County Sheriff’s Office, Freestone County Constable Precinct 2 Constable, Teague Emergency Medical Services, Teague VFD, assisted Teague Police with planning, evacuation of area residents, and securing of the area for the special operations unit to perform procedures to eliminate any threat to public safety. A search warrant was executed for the property and the Special Operations Unit safely dismantled the device.
No one has been injured or harmed in this case.
