Spring will be coming before we know it, and we will all soon enjoy the warm, sunny days ahead.
It will also be time for Fairfield Intermediate students to begin their journey as entrepreneurs as they participate in this year’s Lemonade Day.
Lemonade Day is a free, fun, experiential learning program that teaches youth how to start, own and operate their own business – a lemonade stand. They keep all the money they make and are encouraged to spend some, save some and share some.
Teacher and small business owner, Gina Martin, leads the program in Fairfield.
Last year’s pilot program saw forty-two students operating at over twenty locations around town.
All Fairfield students from third grade and up are invited to join.
Sign up online at LemonadeDay.org/Fairfield beginning this Friday, February 15th. The first seventy-five students to sign up will receive backpacks and workbooks.
Lessons may be completed at their own pace at home. They include information about creating budgets, setting profit-making goals, serving customers and many other important subjects managing a business.
On March 7th, Intermediate school teachers will present lessons on becoming an entrepreneur. Students learn about setting a goal, making a plan, and achieving their dreams.
According to Martin, a parent information session will also be set in March to answer any questions they have about the program.
Lemonade Day will officially be held on Saturday, May 4th in Fairfield. Make plans to come out to buy glasses of lemonade and get to know the young entrepreneurs in your community.
Fairfield’s Lemonade Day is presented by Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.
A fundraiser for the event is being held this Saturday, February 16th at Twisted Vines Event Center. “A Winter Dance” will feature live performance by Pushwater.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Dance will run from 8:00 to midnight.
Tickets are $25 per person. Proceeds will help ensure that all students that have dreams of becoming entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to participate in Lemonade Day.
Please support this great opportunity for our next generation,” says Gina Martin.

Local sponsors of this year’s Lemonade Day include Bi-Stone Publishing, Community National Bank & Trust, Creations Flowers & Gifts, Fairfield Independent School District, Freestone Medical Center, Incommons Bank, and Wells Fargo.
National sponsor is Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers.
“We could not do this without the support of our administration and the teachers at the Intermediate School,” adds Martin. “The Chamber is thankful for their help in making the 2019 Lemonade Day even better.”
