The Jonathan Hardin Chapter, NSDAR hosted a Veterans’ Luncheon on November 8th.
It was an honor to serve our Veterans from Freestone and Limestone Counties at our meeting on Wednesday!
Forty veterans were able to attend. Members from the Fairfield VFW Post 5872, American Legion- Ashburn-Hanna Post 288 in Groesbeck, and Veteran Partners of Texas in Mexia were in attendance.
We served a meal, catered by Joe Friday’s Diner, and gave a program to those that served for us!
The very talented band, Highway 19, played music and did a military song medley for the services! Very moving!
Our Veteran Service Award was presented to Tommy Miller, a Freestone County resident.
Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Navy. He continues to serve unselfishly to his community.
Joan Marsh and Judy Taylor, members of the Chapter gave an enjoyable presentation on ‘Veterans Through Time.”
Thank you to all the members who helped plan, serve, bake cakes, and cleaned up. A thank you to Elara Caring for gift bags. We thank the
First Baptist Church of Teague for the use of their facility.
We as a Chapter are blessed!
