One hundred and thirty entries joined the parade on Monday, June 13 to kick off Fair Week.

The Freestone County residents are celebrating “100 Years of Traditions and Heritage” in the grandest Texan way. The Freestone County Fair and Rodeo is being held June 13-18, 2022 at the W. L. Moody Reunion Fairgrounds in Fairfield.

A pair of 3-year-olds rode away with Best Dressed this year!

Best Dressed Cowboy is Braydon Kennedy, son of Brittany and Cody Kennedy.

Best Dressed Cowgirl is Josey Lynn Long, daughter of Kayse and Jason Long.

Most Creative parade entry this year belongs to the families of Bradley Anderson, Tommy Robinson, and Willie Ward. Their float included a brush arbor and an old-time preacher.

Capps Hardware & Ag Center received Most Entertaining for their parade entry. Their patriotic float included the phrase, “Thank God, I’m a country boy!”

Most Beautiful parade entry was awarded to #JoJo Strong. Their entry included a tyrannosaurus rex and the phrase, “No One Fights Alone!”

And, the coveted “Spirit of Freestone” trophy goes to Long Chuck Wagon, driven by two white horses.

As the Fair Week continues, kids of all ages will enjoy the carnival rides and attractions by Mitchell Amusement of Slidell, LA. again this year each night of the week. Arm bands sold nightly for $25 each. Multiple food vendors will provide hamburgers, corn dogs, tacos, funnel cakes and more.

The Home and Garden Show as well as the Ag Mechanics exhibitors will be showing their projects throughout the week.

All the concerts throughout the week will be held on stage at the fairgrounds and are FREE to attend.

Entertainment on Friday, from 8 p.m. to midnight, the entertainment will be Lanky Moore Band followed by Michael Twitty.

The Freestone County UPRA Rodeo will hold performances on Friday and Saturday nights, June 17-18, both starting at 8 p.m. in the rodeo arena. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for kids under 12. J&J Rodeo Company of Cooper will provide the rodeo stock again this year.

The popular Mutton Busting competition for the little ones will be held at 7:00 p.m. each night of the Rodeo.

The Freestone County 4-H youths and FFA students will show their animals during the week. The Freestone County Livestock Sale auction will take place on Saturday morning, June 18, at 9:30 a.m. under the Isiah “Ike” Carden Pavilion. The Freestone County youth will be auctioning off over 100 animals at the sale. Visit the website www.fcfar.org for additional schedule information.

Closing out the weeklong entertainment, on Saturday night, June 18, from 8 p.m. to midnight will be Pushwater followed by Wade Bowen.

The 2022 Freestone County Fair Association directors have approved the design for the 1922-2022 Freestone County Fair 100-Year commemorative belt buckle. Cost will be $150.00 each. The “100 Years of Traditions and Heritage 1922-2022” history book of the Freestone County Fair Association will be printed after the June 13-18 fair and rodeo to include the 100-year Celebration photos and news articles.
