Southern Oaks Volunteer Fire Department will host its famous Fish Fry on Saturday, October 2nd. This delicious, family-friendly tradition has continued for more than two decades! And the plan, at least for now, is that the dinner will be an “eat-in” affair with meals served inside the fire station, not the drive-thru type of event that SOVFD held last year during COVID.
Dinners will be served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Fire Station (120 Southern Oaks Drive, just inside the Southern Oaks subdivision). “To Go” orders will be available. Dinners consist of deep-fried fish, hush puppies, French fries and coleslaw and a choice of delicious homemade desserts plus iced tea or bottled water.
Cost for the fish dinners is only $8 per person. Included with the evening’s festivities will be a “Honey Pot,” where some lucky winner gets to take home half of the pot’s income.
SOVFD covers approximately 65 percent of its annual operating costs through community donations. The annual Fish Fry is offered as a thank-you to all the residents of the south side of RC Lake for supporting the Fire Department with financial contributions and participation in fundraising activities throughout the year.
