Sherry Emiline Killough Schluneger, 71, of Fairfield, died Friday, August 31, 2018 at her residence. Visitation was from 5:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Capps Memorial Chapel.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 3, 2018 at Land of Memory Cemetery in Palestine with Rev. Terry Risner and Rev. Jerry Hill officiating.
Sherry was born August 21, 1947 in Palestine to parents Floyd Denton Killough and Dorothy Jean Bridges Killough. She was a graduate of Fairfield High School.
She worked for Safeway, Killough & Ross Grocery and Ponte Daniel.
Sherry loved her whole family and was a board member of The Killough Massacre Memorial Site Inc. that maintains the Killough Monument in Cherokee County just north of Jacksonville, Texas.
She was a member of and loved the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 4694 in Mexia, Texas. She was a longtime faithful member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Waxahachie.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother who died at birth; two husbands, Thomas Walter Ross and William Tell (Bill) Schluneger; a step-father, Marcell (Granddaddy Red) Laney.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Christi Michelle Padgett of Fairfield; Floyd Nolan Ross and wife Carolyn of Waxahachie, TX; Thomas Walter Ross, II and wife Rochelle of Bedford, TX; Jamie Elissa Joseph and husband Joe of Austin, TX; one sister, Laura Jean McMillian of Austin, TX; a brother, Leslie Thomas Killough of Fairfield; multiple grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins.
