The Fairfield Eagles track team made their mark in the area meet and several earned a spot in the Region III track meet to be held this week. The top four in each event advanced.
Morgan Coleman took a first place finish in the 400 meter dash, narrowly edging out a pair from Carthage. Coleman completed the double with a win in the 800 meter run.
Kaylee Adams advanced in both hurdle events with a fourth place finish in the 110 and third in the 330 behind teammate Ava Grecu.
The ladies 4×200 relay team qualified for the regional meet with a third place finish. The team of Iesha Jenkins, Jada Clark, Audry Archibald and Carsyn Cox finished behind teams from Madisonville and Center.
The mile relay team also qualified with a third place finish. The team of Jenkins, Abby Coleman, Cox and Fields finished behind the east Texas tandem from Center and Carthage.
Jamesha Fields finished third in the 100 meter dash in a close finish at the top. Shalyn Hadnot won the even with a 12.83 time and Fields had a 12.95 time.
Fields also finished fourth in the 400 meter dash.
Madison Smith finished fourth in the 1600 meter run. Jarahle Daniels finished third in the 3200 meter run.
In the guys division, A.J. Polk and Tyler Smith finished in the top two spots in the 200 meter dash.
Fairfield finished first in the 4×200 meter relay. Polk, Smith, Abram, and Sergio Iszquierdo finished ahead of teams from Jasper, Madisonville and Carthage.
The sprint relay team of Polk, JarMychael Hudson, Justin Abram and Smith took a second place finish behind Carthage.
The following athletes qualified for the regional meet and did not participate in these events due to weather shortening the meet. The results reverted back to the district results and the top two finishers in each of the two districts qualified.
Haley Phillips qualified in the shot put and discus and Josey Richardson earned a berth in the discus. Jaylin Hughes will compete in the pole vault
Devin Cunningham will head to the regional meet in the high jump. Jashaughn Hatcher earned a place in the shot put and Ty Bachtel in the discus.
