Seven Departments Called to House Fire

Thanks to the quick response by firefighters and emergency responders, a family in Lakewood subdivision are safe and their home is still standing.

Fairfield VFD responded to a call Thursday evening, August 2, 2018. Heavy smoke was observed at the single story residence of Dee Jo and Jimmie Lee, located northeast of Fairfield city limits.

Heavy fire was found in the attic by firefighters entering the structure.

Fairfield’s Engine-82 crew kept the fire from spreading until mutual aid arrived. Teague, Streetman, Wortham, Kirvin, Dew, Butler, and Donie Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene.

Also responding were Fairfield EMS, Fairfield Police, and Freestone County Sheriff Office.

One firefighter was treated by FEMS and later transported to Freestone Medical Center ER for heat exhaustion.
