Graveside services for Sam H. Ferguson age 87 of Fairfield Texas will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale with Pastor Garland Moffett of the Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 10:00 A.M. until Noon at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home.
Sam Houston Ferguson was born on December 4, 1932 in Rockdale, he was the son of Jesse Dan and Mary E. (Johnson) Ferguson. He and Betty Joyce Ottmer were married on October 9, 1955 in Sharp, Texas. He has lived in Fairfield since 1971 moving there from Rockdale. He served in the US Army from 1953 until 1955. Sam was the Plant Mechanic and a Supervisor for the power plant in Rockdale and Fairfield, he was a Real Estate Broker and also worked for the US Postal Service and the Fairfield ISD. He loved fishing and had served as the President of the Bass Club in Fairfield.
Sam passed away Monday, September 21, 2020 in the Fairfield Nursing and Rehab in Fairfield. He is preceded in death by his father, Dan Ferguson; mother, Mary Ferguson Tucker; brothers, L.M. “Jim” Ferguson and J.D. Ferguson and a sister, Bernice Ferguson Hamilton.
Sam is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce Ferguson of Fairfield; son, Charles Ferguson and his wife Joy of Plano; grandson, Christopher Ferguson of Plano; sister, Ginger Sparks of Galveston and extended family members, Spencer Villarrel and Parker Edison.
