Today it has been foggy, very foggy, very, very foggy and still more fog. It has looked as if the Red Oak Ranch was in a very scary place and just needed the scary music to start playing. At times we could not see where the cows were. Then it cleared just a little at mid-day. Still damp and foggy but just a little. The bright side of this weather is that it is a perfect time to lie on the couch and read a good book, watch a good movie on TV, or call people you haven’t heard from in a while, or call people that you know just to check on them to make sure they are AOK in this time of the virus. I even thought about making some plans for Spring Cleaning but decided not to depress myself. Last evening, I watched a Christmas movie on the Hallmark Channel. People are putting their outside Christmas lights back up to brighten others. I think that is a wonderful idea.
Last night during the “Thunder/Lightning Storm” I worried about Sundance and the cows. I thought they might get so scared they would run through a fence. Looks like they didn’t but in my mind’s eye I saw them running towards the fence and keep on going. It was one roll of thunder after another; usually the first wasn’t even finished before the next roll started up. My grandmother used to say that loud thunder was just God moving furniture around.
To top everything off, The Colonel drove down to check the Pecan Tree to see if it had budded out. You know the story about that tree, I hope. If you don’t talk to some old-timers in town and they will tell you for sure. The Red Oak Ranch rolls on.
