OK, I promised an answer to a “tease”. I told y’all a man was coming to cut a tree down off one of our fences and that there was a bad problem with him doing this. The bad problem was BEES!! The Colonel doesn’t like them and I doubt this man does either. Well, you know how men are; they strategized how to cut the tree without getting stung! Above all else they didn’t want to be stung….I don’t blame them either. One of the minor problems was half the tree was on one side of the fence and the other half was on the other side. At first they decided to spray the bees with flying insect spray but that didn’t do anything except to agitate the bees. Then they thought about just burning the part of the tree with the bees and in fact they did some of that, but only after the man put on his raincoat and the hood to the coat. The Colonel, I think, stood way back. He had poured diesel on the part of the tree that had the bees. He let the other man have the honor of lighting the diesel.

When it lit, the bees went every which way and if the truth be known, the men probably did too. Then they waited for the bees to calm down, I think there were hundreds of them. Maybe later if you ask them there would probably have been thousands! So, the man decided to cut the part on the other side of the fence and put a chain around the part that was on our side. A long chain!! He was pulling a trailer with his truck because he was going to cut the tree up and haul it off. He decided against that tactic after finding the bees, however! So, he got the tree where it was in a little gully, took the chain off of it and drove away! I am sure they talked about that adventure for a while afterwards. The “chances” we take at the Red Oak Ranch!!
