It is always so nice but kind of scary too when the men come to cut the Hay Meadow and the other fields. Scary because it never fails that storm clouds appear overhead and we just know it is going to rain. It doesn’t happen often that it does rain but any kind of rain on a cut field is not wanted. We certainly need rain, just not now.
The cows are standing under the trees longer and just about every day trying to cool off. I hope they make it. Some of them look as if they are dragging their selves to the trees. Even the little calves don’t do much running and chasing.
The Colonel and I did manage to spend some time on the porch today, even though it was hot. We each had a cold drink and that helped somewhat. We spend a lot of time doing things around the house that wouldn’t ordinarily be taken care of except we are staying in the house everyday. Pretty soon we will be hauling hay, which I love to do. The Colonel keeps telling me that it is boring. I don’t find it boring as I think about all kinds of things; I plan what I am going to do as soon as I can, I sing, and make up songs! I have always been a “Tom Boy.”
