“They” always say that the older you get the quicker the time passes. How true “they” are. Our grandchildren are growing up so fast it makes our heads spin to think one now has three children of her own, one has two children of her own, one is going off to college, two are sixteen and learning to drive, and one is soon to be fourteen! Just a couple of years ago one had a crush on a movie star, one was still in college, one was coming to the ranch and bringing books along for us to read to her, two were just babies, and one was not even born yet! Where did the time go?!

Our college bound granddaughter entertained us this past week. From talking technology to watching her working hard and enjoying it, never complaining. Ashton has always worked at the ranch even as young as four years old. Whenever The Colonel would have to fix a fence, she would bring him whatever tool he asked for and then when the work was done, announce that he couldn’t have done it without her! She graduated from that to hauling hay, feeding cows, etc. She worked so hard this past week; The Colonel gave her a new name, “The Hay Hauling Diva!” She will be learning a new machine this next couple of weeks-the bulldozer.

The others will be on their way down soon. One will arrive, we think, this coming week-end. How blessed we are to have these young people in our lives and in our home. The Red Oak Ranch may be an “empty nest” some of the time but the grandchildren make sure that it is filled with laughter, love, and good times as we watch them grow!
