I was watching the cows, calves, and bulls walking up to the feeders and saw the cutest thing. They always manage to catch my eye and give me a laugh. For animals that line up in a row and follow the leader, you would be surprised maybe that they can give you laughter.
We have some very energetic calves that love to run, jump, turn corners, and suddenly stop! One of the newer calves was really putting on a show running back and forth and turning corners. He just was having such a grand time of it that he didn’t seem to want to stop. He had a captive audience though he didn’t know it. I could not take my eyes off of this calf. None of the other calves were running around with him which is unusual also. He just kept up the show he was performing and never ran out of steam. He always came back and stepped in the place he was supposed to be, and then ran out again.
Eventually, another calf must have wanted in on this performance. The “new” calf stopped, turned around and watched the runner putting on his show. As if the first calf couldn’t get it all out of his system, he turned and ran straight on to the new calf. This calf added a lot to the performance. She jumped straight up, scared the other calf half to death, and I was laughing so hard I was crying. You just never know what you will see when you gaze out the window at the Red Oak Ranch.
P.S.
I thank you for the kind words….you know who you are!
