Losing a pet is very sad. The Red Oak Ranch experienced that loss this week. MO, our Beagle, died of kidney failure Thursday evening. We had taken him to the vet and were told that he had kidney failure and would not have long to live. We brought him back home and made him as comfortable as we could. His sister, Tasha, did not know what to do. She was having a hard time as if she knew he was dying. I believe she, in fact, did know that. Tasha covered the back yard three times in an effort to know where his smell was.
The Colonel built a casket for MO and it was very nice. He has always told me that he is not a carpenter but the casket were very nice. I wrote on the casket, MO MIGHTY, a Beagle Gentleman. He was in fact a gentleman…when Tasha missed catching a treat, MO never tried to grab it away. Whenever they got a “pass through” to go in the front yard, MO always stayed back and let Tasha go out the door first.
Tasha is now staying in the utility room and looks very sad. She can’t quite figure out what happened to her brother, they were fraternal twins and were always together playing. I only know of one fight they had and it was an all out fight. But they made up and never fought again. Not bad for being together everyday for eleven years. Rest in Peace, MO MIGHTY.
