How in the world we ever got on this subject I don’t know. The other day during one of our longer table discussions, The Colonel asked me why my Dad didn’t spell my middle name right. Dad named me after Janet Leigh, the movie star. I just looked at The Colonel and said it was probably because of World War II. He spelled my middle name “Lee”. I told The Colonel that Daddy was probably too busy fighting to notice that he had spelled it wrong.
Then Dad turned around and gave me the nickname of “Janie”. He said it was because Janet sounded too long and too strong for a little baby. So, Janie, I have always been to my family from Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, and cousins galore. I pointed out once that “Janie” has the same number of letters. It was said it sounded softer.
I enjoy the conversations The Colonel and I have. We can talk for hours at the table every time we set down. It means supper and dishes go late into the night sometimes but that is OK. The Red Oak Ranch is a quiet place to just sit and have a good conversation, take it from me, Janie!
