So, 2020 was a horrible year with Covid and 2021 has started out with 2 winter storms with ice and snow: power outages, water outage, etc. But you know what, there was still some fun and interesting things during this time. One of those was new born calves running and jumping in the snow. I don’t know if they were doing it to stay warm or just because it was something new to them. Whatever the reason, they looked so cute running, kicking up their heels, picking up their feet very carefully when not running, and finally lying down in the hay to stay warm with only their little heads sticking out.

The older calves seemed to be put out with the snow. As if it was a nuisance to them and nothing to celebrate. They also picked their feet up very carefully as if they knew they would fall if they weren’t careful. Not to be different, they also were finally lying down in the hay to get warm.

The Red Oak Beagles, MO and Tasha were treated to being in the house even if they were confined to the utility room. MO wasn’t sure about coming in but finally decided anything was better than freezing outside. Tasha had her red blanket and MO chose the rug at the door to the Sun Porch. He was on guard duty I suppose. The first morning I opened the door to check on them, it appeared a tornado with no sound went through the utility room during the night. None of the blankets/rugs were in the same place where they started out. Both Beagles were lying down but were wide awake and neither one wanted to go outside. So, they went outside anyway (with a little help from me) and chased around the yard and decided the Red Oak Ranch utility room was the place for them!
