The cows were restless today. They were waiting to be fed. This is the first year, I believe that we have not already started feeding, as we usually do it by November 15th. So, they wandered around staying close to the barn. I suppose their plan was to let The Colonel see them and recognize they were waiting for something. After waiting almost all day, they finally walked off but just a little way. The Colonel was busy trying to fix a warm spot on the back porch for the Beagles, who were not impressed. They are so spoiled! They didn’t want to stay in their house, they didn’t want to stay on the covers on the back porch and they didn’t want his arrangement to try and keep the wind off them!
So, after all his work, The Colonel decided he was going to feed the cows. They saw him, but I suppose they were giving him the cold shoulder. He put square bales out for them. It is a job to load them in the back of the truck and he was doing it by himself. So, they just watched for a while. Finally, one ole cow noticed what he was doing and alerted all the others. We can not figure out why they alert everyone before they start eating! Because when the other cows come, usually the one who called them to attention gets pushed around and has to fight to get some good hay.
The Beagles finally went to their house where it is warm, and The Colonel got the cows fed and everything is right at the Red Oak Ranch!
