Nothing much happening with the weather being so hot. Of course, there are always some things going on. Like yesterday…I was watching the Hummingbirds. Two of them arrived at the feeder at the same time and because they are so aggressive, they of course have to fight one another. But this time, as the fight started, one of the Hummingbirds flew to the window I was looking out and started chirping. It reminded me of kids arguing and one of them going to tell Mom or Dad on the other one. They both flew off. That’s one thing I don’t understand about Hummingbirds, they fight so much they miss out on having some of the sugar water that gives them energy.

This morning when I went out to feed the Beagles, MO and Tasha, they were both asleep in their “hound holes”. They heard me coming and opened their eyes but didn’t get up. I asked them if they wanted to eat breakfast/brunch. Both of them stayed right where they were but watched me. Finally, Tasha got up and came for her meal. As soon as she got out of her “hound hole”, MO not only got up, he jumped up and threw himself at the very place she had vacated. That reminded me of kids watching each other so that when one got up out of a chair, the other one would claim it. Then parents would have to solve the fight that ensued by telling them, your brother just went to get a drink of water or whatever, and you need to give his chair back to him. Then the next time it happens, if the one who left the chair doesn’t come back in a certain amount of time, the chair jumper says it was abandoned!

Funny how things happening can make a person think of other goings on…especially at the Red Oak Ranch.
