Dear Editor,
Rebuttal to Nonsense
Last week a Buffalo reader of The Times confirmed his status as either woefully ill-informed or, more likely, a close-minded, progressive liberal.
In times of crisis, war, or national emergency it is wholly legitimate for the state to seize an enemy’s resources. This is done to prevent their use against our people and to dampen the enemy’s ability to harm Americans. Freezing Iranian assets was legitimate and honorable since the Islamist State of Iran is America’s second worst foreign enemy, communist China being the first. Iran’s stated policy is “Death to America”.
The regime in Iran presents itself as a legitimate government of a free people. It should be clear to even a dim bulb that it is in fact a criminal enterprise much like the mafia. Individuals or states that kidnap people to extort ransom money are criminals; there’s no other description for them. Why some individuals and our own government continue to deal with criminal regimes like Iran, Russia, and communist China as if they were honestly representative of their peoples is a mockery of American principles: personal liberties, rule of law, justice, etc.
Negotiating also doesn’t work, is counterproductive, empowers the criminals, and picks our pockets. I state again: giving aid to the enemy is treason. It also tells criminals that kidnapping Americans pays very well.
Criminal regimes have no sense of honor; they envy our prosperity; they exploit weakness and retreat from strength. The $6 Billion Biden just released to Iran is designated for humanitarian uses, but no safeguards were in place. Like Obama’s 2016 surrender of $1.6 Billion, much if not all of the money will go for military uses. Americans will die. Crime today obviously pays very well. Ask the Clintons or Bernie Madoff.
Better still, ask Hunter and Joe Biden.
God Bless America!
