Part Time hours have been approved beginning after the first of the year for a replacement secretary in the DPS office in the Freestone County Courthouse.
The current Administrative Assistant for the DPS office will be retiring soon and DPS Troopers are requesting at least part time assistance from the County as replacement.
County Commissioners, at a meeting held earlier this month, voted to allow a 5-hour per day, 5-days per week position with the option for up to 29 hours total if needed.
After a few months, if DPS Troopers find that this is not enough, they can request the position be made into Full Time.
This position is responsible for issuing accident reports as requested by the public, acting as a conduit between law enforcement agencies, and assisting Troopers in other administrative duties.
Also at this meeting, commissioners approved minutes from three previous meetings, approved budget transfers and amendments, accepted departmental reports, approved to pay bills, lifted the county-wide burn ban, and reviewed payroll.
Their next meeting will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, December 21, 2016.
