Dear Editor
Once upon a time, baseball was the American national pastime. Not now. Today it’s politics. Since 90+% of Americans are connected and watch national TV, we are inundated with daily pics of hunger, war, political contests, and a never-ending battle between mainstream Americans and hard-left fools who either (1) don’t process information rationally or (2) live in a different metaverse, separately from real time reality. Case in point: the coming presidential election.
Proof of the above hypothesis is the upcoming debate, starring Joe Biden, career politician, possibly corrupt political opportunist, and visibly mentally impaired. In the opposing corner is Donald Trump, magalomaniac, dramatist, with questionable self-control and with limited knowledge of foreign affairs. He is, however, neither mentally impaired nor for sale. His first term as president was, by choice, without salary.
Only George Washington of all the other presidents has done this.
The main feature of this year’s show will be the debate… if it actually happens. If the lunatic wing of the democratic party actually allows such a confrontation, I predict a rambling, illogical, error-filled part from Biden as well as a rude, emotional shout-over from Trump. If (and if is the operative word here) this event actually is televised, the viewing audience will rival that of last year’s Super Bowl game.
Both candidates have lots of negative baggage to defend; so, it won’t be pretty, but if both survive the interim, one will surely be the President of the United States this fall. Biden’s foreign policies have totally failed: Afghanistan’s shameful departure, wide open borders, failure to help our friends in Gaza and Ukraine, inflation, “forgiving” student loans (by adding them to the national debt) so as to buy votes from youngsters, etc. Trump will have to overcome rudeness, vulgarity, legal problems (courtesy of democratic party politicos), an unfortunate ignorance of foreign affairs, serious hubris, etc.
Bottom line: Biden’s weaknesses will most likely ensure our further national decline. Trump’s might. I predict that the face-face-debate will not occur, but I hope it does. It would be great theater but not great entertainment.
God bless America!
