After expressing his thanks to the City of Fairfield for providing money to promote the event, Jeff Kirgan with the Golden Circle gave an update during the June 26, 2018 Council meeting concerning the Big T Cook-off and Music Festival, being held in September.

Among the musicians slated for the weekend will be Chris Kilpatrick, former member of N’Sync.  Plans are in the works for the singer to perform the National Anthem at Eagle Field, prior to the Fairfield High School football game.

The cook off will be a Lone Star BBQ sanctioned event, with 50 to 75 cookers expected to compete.

Kirgan relates that his group is working closely with Fairfield Chamber of Commerce to cross promote their event along with the annual Show of Wheels and Citywide Garage Sale, being held that same weekend.

At the suggestion of the marketing group working with Golden Circle, specific plans are being made to control the consumption of alcohol during the event.

According to Kirgan, Paul Kennedy, owner of The Depot X, has the required permits to assist with that portion of the event.  Alcohol consumed at the event must be purchased in the designated area, with limits set accordingly.

No outside alcohol will be allowed into the venue.

The cook-off and music festival will be held September 7-8, 2018.

Also addressed during the council meeting includes:

–Name changed on Homeland Security Grant to reflect interim City Administrator
