Jayci Clare Phillips leads the class as this year’s Valedictorian with a 104.023 GPA. Karlie Joan Paris earns the title of Salutatorian with a 103.0476 GPA.
Valedictorian
“Extremely blessed and grateful,” is what Jayci said she felt, when learning she had earned the title of Valedictorian.
Jayci is the daughter of Cliff and Jenny Phillips, and sister to Jare, Marquis, and Colton.
During her high school career, Jayci served as a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, FFA, Class Vice President, a member of Prom Committee, Varsity Basketball, Varsity Volleyball, and Varsity Cheer.
High School Honors include Lion Heart & Hustle Award, Junior Class Favorite, Academic All-State Triecta (TABC, TGCA, THSCA), and earning top spot as Valedictorian.
She was also an active participant in trash pick-ups, attending church twice a week, and spent over 80 hours doing community service by helping with concession stands.
Her hobbies include cooking, working out, reading, and swimming.
Jayci’s advice to underclassmen is, “Be the best YOU and have the mindset of ‘I get to’ not ‘I’ve got to’.”
A favorite teacher is her basketball coach, Lawrence Gullette because “He has been a very inspiring mentor and coach, on and off the court. He also remained strong and present while battling cancer this previous pre-season.”
What she appreciates most about Teague High School is, “the welcoming environment, many extracurricular options and the many loving staff members.”
Jayci will be attending Texas A&M in College Station with plans to study Animal Science to become a Veterinarian.
Her advice to all is “to enjoy life to the fullest and remember that it’s okay to make mistakes.”
Salutatorian
“It makes me proud to know that all my hard work paid off,” is the feeling Karlie had when told she had earned the title of Salutatorian.
Karlie is the daughter of Drake and Julie Paris.
During her high school years, she participated in FFA and One Act Play and served as National Honor Society president.
Honors she received include earning the title of Salutatorian, Buddy Lowe Integrity Award, FFA Lone Star Degree, and Daughters of the American Revolution’s Good Citizen Award.
After hours, this young lady was active in the Eighth Avenue Baptist Church youth group.
Her hobbies include reading, shopping, hanging out with friends, and painting.
Karlie’s advice to underclassmen is to “stay faithful to God, work hard, stay true to your values, and get involved – you’ll grow more than you ever imagined!”
A favorite teacher is her Ag teacher, Mrs. Smith because, “She’s a kind, genuine leader and a faithful Christian Woman who inspires me daily.”
What she appreciates most about Teague High School is “the close-knit community, the support from my teachers, and the memories made with friends that will last a lifetime.”
Karlie will be attending Texas A&M with plans to study Biology. “I would like to attend medical school to become a cardiologist,” she says.
Graduation
Teague High School commencement will be held Friday, May 23, 2025, at Lion Stadium beginning at 8:00 p.m.
Graduation for Teague Lions Academy will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
