Melissa Perez, Paramedic/RN named Fairfield EMS 2019 “Star of the Year”, formerly held by EMT-B, Rhonda Craig. Fairfield Ambulance Services “Star of the Year” award is based on a vote of peers to recognize one’s service and duty throughout the year.
Melissa Perez currently resides in Wortham Texas, Freestone County, married to Billy Perez, mother to five boys, Christopher wife Tambra, Daniel, Anthony, Ethan, and Cash Perez, Honey (grandmother) to Skylar, Peyton, Greyson, Jaggar, and Brynleigh.
Melissa was born in Teague Texas, grew up in Freestone County, and graduated from Wortham High School in 1994.
She became an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) in 1997, graduated as a Registered Nurse in 2003, became a Paramedic in 2004, received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) in 2015, and is currently working on a Master’s Degree in Nursing.
Melissa began working for Fairfield EMS in June of 2000.
Along with Fairfield EMS Star of the Year, Melissa has received many other awards for her service as a First Responder, 2009 Wortham VFD Firefighter of the Year, 2018 First Responder Commendation for Saving a Life, and many other accolades.
“I have been Blessed to be a part of this wonderful organization since 2000. We have the absolute best equipment, training, personnel, and Board of Director’s, so we are able to provide great care for the people we serve.”
