Palestine Community Theatre will open its Spring production of Robert Harling’s Steel Magnolias at its home in the historic Texas Theatre, 213 W. Crawford, in downtown Palestine on Friday, March 25. This production, sponsored by Jodi Davis of Combined Associates Real Estate, will play two weekends (Mar. 25-27 & Apr. 1-3) with curtain at 7:30 PM on Friday and Saturday nights and 2:00 PM on Sunday afternoons. There will be a complimentary reception on opening night that begins at 6:30 PM. Tickets, which are $12 for students (ages 4-18) and $17 for adults, can be purchased in advance at www.PCTboxoffice.com and at the door before each performance.

If you love the movie, you’ll love the play. In this play turned award-winning movie, the action is set in Truvy’s beauty salon where all the ladies who are “anybody” come to have their hair done. The plot and dialogue of both are closely related with only slight differences in who you see (only the six main female roles in the play) and the location of the action (Truvy’s). As in the movie, there is plenty of funny repartee, but tragedy strikes when Shelby risks pregnancy and gives her life to have a child of her own.

With veterans and newcomers alike, the cast and crew of PCT’s Spring production are sure to entertain, so don’t miss your chance for a great experience.
